Cutting Guidance Sheet |
I have listed information on here that is of specific interest to my trade clients.
Quantity Orders:
On small runs under 10 turnings it is very difficult for me to keep the costs down. If the quantities are over 10 of the same turning then I can usually offer a quantity discount.
My best rates are given when the timber is supplied by the client, and the quantities are over 10 of the same turnings.
Payment:
At present I am not VAT registered.
I usually request payment on delivery
On orders up to £300.00 in value, or where the client has supplied the timber I normally allow cash / cheque on delivery.
On orders over £300.00 in value I request 50% up front to cover timber costs, and the balance on delivery.
On client accounts my terms are strictly 30 days nett
We understand and
will exercise our statutory right to interest and
compensation for debt recovery costs under the late
payment legislation if we are not paid according to
agreed credit terms.
Delivery:
Delivery costs are a problem, I am constantly looking at ways of keeping the costs down, if I am delivering in the van and have a few drops on then I will split the cost between, each of the clients. Sometimes it can be as low as £15.00 each, other times it can be £25.00-£30.00 The only thing that I can guarantee is that you will not be charged over the odds, as I value my customers.
I always try and do the more bulky
collections and deliveries in person. This enables me to offer a more personal
service, and any queries that the client might have can generally be sorted
out when I am there. I cover the whole of South and Mid Wales and regularly
visit the Surrey area, supplying a few of the local joineries and furniture
restorers. I am quite happy to travel anywhere within a 50 mile corridor of
the M4. If you have a consignment of timber that you require turning. Please
call to see when I am in the area.

My postal deliveries are generally carried out by A.P.C.
Proto-type Turnings:
The turnings can be to drawings
or originals. I can also accept C.A.D. .DWG files.
If you require a sample / prototype to be made there
will be a charge for this service.
Supplying your own timber:
If you are supplying your own timber I can give you a turning
only price. I try to keep my prices down as much as possible, as this enables
me to concentrate on turning rather than machining timber. It also speeds up
the turn around time, allowing me to get the finished turnings back to you in
the shortest possible time.
· If you are supplying your own timber, please
ensure that any timber blanks supplied for turning are free from any splits
and foreign bodies i.e.. nails, screws, bits of stone etc.
· If they have been glued up from two or more sections, please ensure that they
have been left for sufficient time for the glue to cure.
· They should also be P.S.E. and cut to length. Allow
100mm extra for spigot on newels, allow 80mm extra
for spigot on newel caps, balusters should be cut
to length. click

· If you would like to mortice the turnings before they are turned, this doesn't
normally cause any problems during the turning, but if you have any doubts please
speak to me first.
Shapes in turning:
Turnings are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
You can choose from an existing design, modify a design, or even come up with
one of your own.
Below is some information to help you identify the basic shapes used in woodturning.
Turnings can be made with solid spigots, loose spigots or just square ends.
This depends on what method you use to fix them to the finished item. Please
specify diameter of spigot required in millimetres.
Complaints:
If for any reason you have a problem with any
of my work, I would appreciate it if the complaint was made as soon as possible
after receiving the goods. This will enable me to rectify it, as quickly as
I can.
